Determining how much to insure your jewellery for can be a difficult question. Underinsuring your jewellery may mean we will not be able to replace it like-for-like in the event of a claim, however, if you over insure your jewellery you may be paying an unnecessary amount of premium. This is why we recommend insuring your jewellery at its current retail replacement cost, or how much your jeweller would charge us to make you a comparable replacement. This can be anywhere from the purchase price to the amount listed on your valuation certificate. If your jewellery is inherited or has been gifted to you and you are unable to provide a copy of the tax invoice it must be insured at the valuation amount.

To finalise your policy, we do require some documentation so that we can specify the details of your jewellery on your policy documents.

◦ A ‘proof of possession photo of the item in front of something recently dated such as an email from us, a newspaper or a grocery receipt.

Yes! You can take out a policy for a ring you plan on giving your partner.
You can choose to add your partner’s name to the policy at a later date allowing them to call or email to make changes to the policy.
You will need to disclose all jewellery insurance claims that have occurred in the past 3 years as part of your Duty of Disclosure. You can still apply for coverage despite a previous claim, however Centrestone reserves the right to cancel or refuse coverage if you have made a fraudulent claim.

Selected jewellers can process policies in store so that your precious jewellery is covered from the moment it leaves the jewellers. Your jeweller will then send us all the required documentation so you can relax knowing you are fully covered.

We have one standard policy which is for 12 months cover. Centrestone has an automatic renewal system, so that you can have continued coverage for your item.
If you cancel within the first 14 days, you are eligible for a full refund under part of the 14 day cooling-off period
It is possible to cancel your Centrestone Policy at any time.
If you have paid your premium as an annual payment you will receive a pro-rata refund for the days remaining in your policy minus a 10% cancellation fee. If you have paid your premium in monthly instalments you will not receive a refund for any instalments already paid.
Your Centrestone Policy provides you with 12 months of comprehensive cover for your jewellery. At 2-4 weeks prior to the renewal date of your policy we will issue your renewal notice.
We understand that life is busy, and it can be hard to keep on top of your expenses. To ensure you have continued protection of your jewellery your Centrestone Policy will automatically renew after 12 months.
The premium paid for the first year of coverage is inclusive of an admin which is not charged in subsequent years. So, if your insured value is the same, your premium would reduce in your second year of coverage.
Your premium is calculated from the insured value of your policy, so if the insured value remains the same after your second year of coverage so will your premium.
We understand that losing your precious jewellery can be an extremely upsetting and stressful time, which is why we have kept our claims process and simple and quick as possible
If your insured item has been accidently damaged, lost or stolen please contact the Centrestone team as soon as possible. We can then register your claim in our system and advise you of what documents you will need to provide for your claim to be submitted to our underwriter.
If the claim is approved, we will contact your preferred jeweller to arrange the repair or replacement of your jewellery. All claims are settled directly with your preferred jeweller and we do not offer cash payouts or reimbursements for claimed items.
Having your jewellery lost or stolen is stressful and upsetting, so we don’t want to rub salt in the wound. The excess to make a claim with Centrestone is only $50!

We know that time and craftsmanship has gone into making your precious jewellery, which is why we guarantee you can return to your preferred jeweller for any repair or replacement.
Centrestone’s policy is the most comprehensive policy in the market. We only have a few standard exclusions unlike other generalist insurance policies.
Here are some scenarios where your items will not be covered under the Centrestone policy:
◦ Cleaning and renovation
◦ Confiscation
◦ Cyber risks
◦ Dishonest or intentional acts
◦ Existing damage
◦ Gradual deterioration, breakdown, wear and tear
◦ Misappropriation – intentional theft, loss or damage caused by an insured person is not covered.

Centrestone’s policy provides you with 12 months worldwide coverage with no limits to the length of time spent overseas.
This means if you move outside of Australia you would still be fully covered during your policy period!
However, if you are unable to provide an Australian residential address at the time of your policy renewal, we will not be able to offer you future coverage for your jewellery
